How do you identify the records included on KSR Evidence?
We
have developed sensitive and advanced search strategies to identify systematic
reviews and meta-analyses. Our searches encompass a large number of databases
including Medline, Embase and the Cochrane Library. The results are checked by
our team of information specialists, and any record that may be a systematic
review is then assessed based on the full paper by a systematic reviewer.
Articles are included if they claim to be either a systematic review or a
meta-analysis, or if the methods used in the paper are those of a systematic
review.
Where can I find the search strategy and methods you use to identify records for KSR Evidence?
Given the large investment it takes to maintain and improve KSR Evidence, we keep our sources and search strategies commercial in confidence. However, you can be assured that our team of experienced information specialists has created a sensitive and robust search strategy, and that we search a large range of databases and other resources.
I am looking for a systematic review, but can't find it on KSR Evidence
To find eligible systematic reviews, we search a number of databases using a sensitive search strategy. Records are then individually screened to make sure that they really are systematic reviews before being added to KSR Evidence. Despite guidelines which state that systematic reviews and meta-analyses should be identified as such in the title, our own research shows that this is not always the case making the identification of systematic reviews and meta-analyses increasingly difficult. In some cases it may also take time for records to be added to the databases that we search so, despite our best intentions and rigorous processes, it is possible that we may miss a systematic review. If this is ever the case, please pass on the details to us and we will be sure to add it to KSR Evidence as soon as possible.
